Privacy Policy
Last updated 14 October 2026
Find Friend ("the app", "we") is a chat app for meeting new people. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We keep it short on purpose.
What we collect
- Account data: a username, and an email address if you choose to save your account. Guest accounts have no email.
- Optional profile data: a photo, a short bio, a mood, interests, gender and country. All optional and editable.
- Participation and invitations: daily challenge answers, polls, game and room participation, XP events, cosmetic badges, invitation codes and verified referral milestones. We also record search wait/outcome metrics and active days to understand quiet periods. Referral checks use a server-protected hash of the random installation identifier; invitees’ email or device details are not exposed through links.
- Content you send: messages, Moments, stories, comments, photos, videos and voice notes, plus reactions and group names. Media is stored until the message is deleted or expires under our retention rules.
- Device data: a random install identifier and a coarse device fingerprint (screen, OS, model, time zone). We use these to keep banned users out; they are not hardware identifiers and we do not collect IMEI, advertising IDs, contacts or precise location.
- Push token: a Firebase Cloud Messaging token so we can notify you about messages and friend activity.
- Technical logs: IP address, request times and errors, kept for security and debugging.
Why we use it
- To run the service: deliver messages, match you in random chat, show who is online.
- To keep people safe: reports, blocking, moderation and ban enforcement.
- To notify you: push notifications you can turn off in the app or in system settings.
- To sign you in: one-time codes sent to your email, a password you set (stored only as a hash), or, if you choose it, Google Sign-In.
We do not sell your data, show ads, or use your content to train AI models.
Who sees what
Other users see your username, photo, bio, mood, interests, country flag and whether you are online (you can hide online status). Your email, device data and IP address are never shown to other users. Moments, daily challenge contributions, comments and active public stories can be seen by other eligible users. Game answers are shared within the participating chat or room. Earned levels and cosmetic badges appear on profiles.
Your messages
Your chats are private between the people in them. We do not read them for advertising or profiling, we do not use them to train AI models, and we do not run AI or keyword scanning over your conversations.
Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. They are stored on our servers so we can deliver them and so you can open your chat history later — which means the operator can reach them in the limited ways below. Anyone can be reported, so safety work needs that access.
- Message details: the operator can see who messaged whom, when, and what kind of message it was (text, photo, video or voice note). This is used to investigate spam, ban evasion and reports, and it never shows what was written.
- Message content: the text, photos, videos and voice notes themselves can only be opened with a written reason, one conversation at a time. Every time content is opened it is recorded — the reason, the time, and who opened it.
- Reported content: if you report a message, a person or a room, moderators see what you reported plus a short amount of surrounding conversation, which is what it takes to judge it.
- Legal requests: we may disclose content where the law requires it.
This applies to every chat, including random chats and rooms. Nothing you send is invisible to the operator, and nothing is opened without a recorded reason.
Service providers
- Hosting for the server and database.
- Pusher for real-time delivery of messages while the app is open.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications.
- Google Sign-In, if you choose to use it, to confirm your identity without a password.
- An email provider to deliver sign-in codes.
Each provider receives only what it needs for that purpose.
Retention
Deleting a chat clears earlier history from your own account view; the other participant keeps their copy. Deleting an individual message removes that message for the conversation. Participation, XP and referral records support progress and abuse prevention while your account exists and are removed with account deletion. Media may be removed earlier under retention limits set by the operator. Sign-in codes expire within minutes. Logs are rotated regularly.
Your choices
- Delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. This removes your profile, messages, media, friendships and device records. See account deletion.
- Hide from Discover, hide online status, mute chats, block or report anyone from inside the app.
- Turn notifications off in Profile → Notifications or in your device settings.
Age
Find Friend is for people aged 18 and over. If we learn that a younger person is using it, we remove the account.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/WSS). Passwords are hashed. Access to the server is limited to the operator.
Changes and contact
